Taking care of our environment
We continuously seek new ways to reduce our environmental footprint while maximizing our positive impact on the world around us. Our environmental programs are designed to:
- Minimize pollution at the source
- Conserve natural resources through reduction, reuse, and recycling of materials
- Promote energy conservation
- Develop long-lasting products that have a minimal adverse effect on the environment
- Continuously improve our environmental performance
Reducing our footprint
Our commitment to environmental responsibility has led us to pursue clean energy in several ways:
Community solar gardens
We participate in community solar gardens through Xcel Energy Solar*Rewards Community® , which has helped our Renewal by Andersen facility achieve 100% solar energy subscriptions for its operations.
Award-winning steam plant
The heating and cooling of our 2.5 million square-foot Bayport, MN manufacturing plant is powered by our award-winning steam plant which uses recycled sawdust from our on-site milling operations.
Secondhand thermal power
To prevent us from creating excess energy, we also capture pre-existing thermal energy from the St. Croix River power plant to help power operations at our Bayport, MN facility.
Creating healthier habitats
We proudly signed a regional Pollinator Pledge to commit to restoring a pollinator-friendly habitat at our Bayport, MN, facility. The pledge is a collaborative effort among federal agencies, businesses, nonprofits and others. Since our initial efforts, we've expanded a pollinator habitat and other natural landscaping elements to several sites and contributed information to Environmental Initiative’s Corporate Guide to Sustainable Landscaping.
Bring the outdoors in
Indoor/outdoor living
Blur the lines between indoors and outdoors while transforming your home in new and unexpected ways.
Make your home a healthier place to live
Natural air and light not only keep your home looking and feeling great, they can have amazing health benefits, helping make your home a healthy one.
Product certifications
We evaluate the environmental inputs and outputs that occur with our products over the course of their entire lifecycle — from raw material extraction to end-of-life — and work to identify ways to improve their environmental impact at every stage.

Impact categories include greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, ozone depletion potential, waste generated, and many others.
Health Product Declaration
